The Theatre Lab on Sunday, March 19th will feature Jim Hammond from the Puppet Network! The Puppet Network is the premier puppet design and producing organization in South Florida. With a 20-year history (having evolved from the former Sideshow Theatre and Productions), the Design and Management team has produced traditional styles of puppet theatre for many of the largest cultural organizations in South Florida including Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Museum of Art-Fort Lauderdale, Miramar Cultural Center, Florida Grand Opera, The Playground Theatre and Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Theatre Lab at the Deering Estate at Cutler is a performance art series and residency opportunity developed in partnership with the Theatre League of South Florida - an alliance of theatrical organizations and professionals dedicated to nurturing, promoting, and advocating for the growth and prestige of the South Florida theatre industry. Through monthly theater performances, workshops and lectures held at the Deering Estate at Cutler, these diverse theatrical opportunities will attract new audiences to this art form, provide rare professional development opportunities for actors and writers and test innovative approaches to theory and practice.
All programs are offered as a SUNDAY Matinee performance beginning at 2:30 (meet the artist reception at 2:00) in the Estate’s Visitor Center Exhibit Hall and will generally conclude at 4:00 pm. Free with Estate admission.
Additonal Theatre Labs will be offered on: May 20, 2012: "Eliza Doolittle Dialect Workshop"
